What are screenshots? Screenshots are basically pictures of the screen that you take by pressing the Print Screen key on your keyboard (or PrtScn on a Mac). When you press this key, it takes an image of whatever is currently being displayed on your computer and saves it to your clipboard so that you can paste it into another program, such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, later on. Taking screenshots may seem easy at first glance, but there are actually some tips and tricks you should know before taking them yourself to ensure they turn out exactly how you want them to!

Press Print Screen

To take a screenshot of your entire screen, press Print Screen on your keyboard. Open Paint: Open Microsoft Paint (it comes pre-installed with Windows). Paste: In Microsoft Paint, click Edit and then click Paste. Your screenshot will be added to your document. Crop: If necessary, crop out any unnecessary portions of your picture in Microsoft Paint by clicking Select and then clicking Rectangular Selection Tool. Save it as a .png file: Go to File and choose Save As option.

Open Paint

Paint is a built-in tool in Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 that lets you take screenshots on your PC easily. But first thing’s first, let’s get acquainted with how screenshot works. Open Paint and go to File > New > Blank File. This will open an empty white canvas for you.

Paste your image in paint

To take a screenshot of your entire desktop, press Ctrl + PrtScn or hold down Windows + PrtScn. Windows automatically saves your screenshot in your Pictures folder. To capture just a specific window, open it and press Alt + PrtScn. You can also use tools like free screen capture software that allows you to edit and annotate before saving as JPEG image file.

Save the file as a jpg or png

There are two ways you can take screenshots. You can save it as a file or print it directly from your computer screen. To save as a file, first press Print Screen. This will copy everything that is currently visible on your desktop onto your Windows clipboard. Now open Microsoft Paint and press Ctrl+V, which will paste what was in your clipboard into Paint.

Edit your screenshot with a photo editor of your choice

Most operating systems have their own built-in tools for editing screenshots. But if you’re looking for something more robust, check out online photo editors that let you edit your screenshot in real-time and make changes on the fly. You can crop out irrelevant portions of an image, add annotations, or highlight sections you want to draw attention towards. No matter what kind of software or hardware you use—screenshots are one of today’s most effective marketing tools. Use them wisely!
